Dog Grooming

Full service cat grooming in Bend Oregon

3 Levels of Care

1. Just a Bath Please

I start by selecting shampoos and conditioners best suited for your pet’s skin and coat type, factoring in any skin issues they might be dealing with. A special tearless facial wash is used, the eyes are cleaned with a special eye solution and the ears are cleaned. The bath is finished off with a blow dry, brush and nail trimmed. Undercoat must be removed before a trim or haircut can be performed, the De-shed Fee will automatically be applied to any Trim or Haircut Package. De-Shed Bath: De-Shed services include everything that the bath includes with the addition of specialized shampoo and conditioner formulated to release the undercoat. Extra brushing and the use of a special de-shed tool helps eliminate excess hair. *(This weight chart is for comparison purposes only.) A note about Poodles & Doodles. Remember picking up a baby boy and then a baby girl. You were surprised at the weight difference even though the two appeared to be the same size. I lift dogs every day. The Poodle and the Doodle weigh sugnificantly less than other breeds of the same size. Therefor I will be primarily considering the SIZE of the dog rather than the WEIGHT when pricing my services. Thank You for your cooperation. Julie)

2. Bath And A Trim

Need just a little trimming? This service includes everything the bath offers with the addition of some minor trimming of the face, feet, underline and sanitary area.

3.Full Service Dog Groom

The Full Service Groom includes everything that the Bath and Trim packages offer with the addition of a full body clipping or scissoring. All grooming cuts are Breed Standard or customized to Owner Preference/Pet Personality. Prices for Standard, Miniature and Toy Poodles may vary greatly from the listed estimates due to the detailed shaving required of the Breed Standard.

Nail Trim and Grinding

The nail trim is clipping the tip of the nails just before the “Quick”. Trimming the nails will leave a sharp edge that will be ware smooth in a couple of days with normal activity. It is included in all services or as an “a la carte” item. Nail Grinding takes clipping just a little bit further by filing the sharp edges smooth, allowing the groomer to take the nails a little closer to the * “Quick”. It is included in all services upon request or as an “a la carte” item.  Nail Trimming or grinding is included in all services, but will only be performed if the pet tolerates it without excessive stress. No discount will be applied if a nail trim or grinding cannot be performed.

( *Thin bundle of blood vessels and nerves located in the toe nail.)

Doodle Policy

Doodles And Poodles , Frustrations & Facts

Dear Doodle Owners,

It has come to my attention the common experience among professional Groomers is that some unique issues apply to doodle&poodle grooming.

    You invested in Your Doodle

They are so cute!

They are so smart!

They are so loyal!

They are like no other dog out there…

To say that they are like no other dog is exactly right. Doodles, small or large, come in so many different verities. Body size and weight, coat texture, straight, wavy or poodle curly, thin or extremely thick hair, each doodles is different.  Like no other breed of dog.

Doodles need constant attention at home, not just the love and play attention but coat/hair attention. Their entire body from the tip of their nose to the end of their tail and every inch in between needs to be brushed/combed at least every other day to reduce matting.

Doodles need to be groomed every 6 weeks on average to maintain healthy skin and coat, 4 weeks if the doodle owner is wanting to maintain a longer coat on his Doodle.

The reason?  Every dog sheds it’s top layer of skin cells every 3 weeks (21 days) and it’s coat every 6 weeks. These skin cells and hair are trapped in the viable coat causing matts and tangles to form.

WAIT A MINUTE! I THOUGHT DOODLES DIDN’T SHED? Believe me, they shed.

Timely grooming along with your “attention” at home helps reduce the time needed de-matting your dog in the shop, and the extra charges.

I’m putting together a package of the proper tools a doodle owner should have on hand to maintain that doodle coat between grooms. For your enjoyment and theirs.

I would like to put together a free workshop demonstrating the proper use these tools on your doodle at home.  Please give me a call and lets see if we can get a few of us together for a class.

Doodles are a joy to groom, so happy and lovable all the time. However, to groom this bundle of joy properly the doodle owner must allow 4 to 6 hours or more if the coat is in a matted condition, to avoid a complete shave down.

The intensive, tedious work de-matting the entire dog is difficult and time consuming thus it carries a hefty price tag.

I am an educated professional dog groomer. I attend continuing education classes throughout the year so that I am better able to serve your dogs grooming needs. I agree with you,

“your doodles shouldn’t look like poodles”, there is art and effort needed knowing the proper way to groom your precious doodle.

Lets put this in perspective.

Coming from a former beauty salon owner, think of how often you go to the salon for a full color and weave. You know the foils and highlights we all love so much, how much time it takes and the cost involved. Now take into consideration what I do for your doodle, I pluck the hair from their ears, trim the hair from their foot pads and their Fannie’s and Hoo-ha’s…yep! I said their fannies and Hoo-ha’s! I trim their toe nails  and then I still have that entire body of hair to trim and style all on a moving target. Just so you know the entire story, a dog has 18,000 to 22,000 hairs per square centimeter of skin. That’s a lot of hair to groom, sort of justifies the costs involved doesn’t it.

NOTICE: As of June 1, 2017, pricing for grooming on all doodles will be done on an hourly rate, no longer a flat fee.

The hourly fee is $30.00. This includes all the services you have become accustom too, beginning to end of groom.

I look forward to working with you and the Doodles we love and enjoy. Julie
